Project Spotlight: Rebuilding Lytton

In June 2021, the town of Lytton, British Columbia, was devastated by a wildfire that swept through the community, leaving a path of destruction and heartbreak in its wake. The disaster razed homes, businesses, and infrastructure, displacing residents and altering the landscape of this resilient community. Now, as Lytton begins the long and arduous journey of rebuilding, insulated concrete forms (ICFs) are playing a pivotal role in constructing homes that are not only resilient but also sustainable and energy-efficient.

Rebuilding Lytton is more than just restoring what was lost; it’s about creating a foundation for a stronger, more resilient future. Innovative building materials can help ensure that Lytton rises from the ashes as a model of sustainability and disaster resilience. Homes built with insulated concrete forms are less likely to ignite, offering enhanced protection against future wildfires. This enhanced safety can provide peace of mind to residents who have already endured the trauma of losing their homes.

At Performance ICF we are excited to be supplying Quad-Lock ICF for a new home in Lytton. Can’t wait to see this community thrive once again!

Performance ICF

Step Code 3 Now in Effect

Effective today, May 1, 2023, all new residential buildings in British Columbia must meet Energy Step Code 3.  This province wide objective aims to improve energy efficiency in new construction by 20%.  Builders will be required to hire a certified energy advisor and homes will need to be carefully sealed to achieve the desired air tightness requirements.

While it is possible to reach Step Code 3 using conventional building products, insulated concrete forms is a cost effective way to improve the performance of your home.  Installed correctly, Quad-Lock ICF will help achieve an air tight building.

This is an important time to learn ICF construction.  Contact Ryan, our sales manager at Performance ICF at (604) 607-8600 or send us a message through our website on our Contact Us page.

We look forward to hearing from you!

ICF Pool

Building an ICF Pool

Are you thinking of building an ICF pool? Because of their versatility and energy efficiency, insulated concrete forms are now quickly becoming a popular product for building swimming pools.  The foam pool walls offer much better insulation than fiberglass or vinyl.  This means that heat loss is greatly reduced resulting in lower monthly utility bills.

Quad-Lock ICF’s can be used to configure nearly any shape of pool.  Curves and corners are not a problem.  While conventionally built pools require a lot of upkeep to keep the walls from weakening, ICF pools walls are built entirely from foam, creating a more waterproof barrier that protects the walls from moisture penetration.

Performance ICF recently supplied Quad-Lock insulated concrete forms to a homeowner on Vancouver Island.  The ICF was used to build a pool on their property.  We are excited to see the end result and we hope they will enjoy their new pool for many years to come.
